Hi All,

I am currently building a new Lake Tanganyika build, I have decided to use a sump for the filtration, hopefully some kind fellow members can share there thoughts on the design?

The return pump I was thinking of using was a Ehiem Compact plus 5000

I have posted a jpg version below:

Many thanks to anyone who replies.

Wouldn't the air stone create a problem? and what is the need for air stone?

I can see the point of the airstone, they're used with some media to keep the media moving, K1 for example.

How wide is this sump? There appear to be a fair number of narrow chamber, which bothers me slightly as they'll be difficult to access for maintenance. It's also a powerful pump, so it'll move a fair bit of water if it's not a big sump, which could give you issues with water levels dropping in the sump once you power up.
