hi

I have decided to go with a new set up and new stock and am looking at keep Cichlids. It means getting of my shrimp and other fish. However are there any fish that can live with Cichlids. I have several bristlenose i would love to keep, guppies, blind cave fish, mollies and neons. Will any of these be safe?

also will my assassin snails be safe.

also what do you recommended as a starter fish, and are you only able to keep on species at a time?

180 lts Juwel tank

Thanks

with that tank size the largest cichlid you will be looking to keep is around the 5"-6" mark. This gives you quite a large choice to choose from.

Many South American cichlids can be mixed with other fish, so long as they aren't overly aggressive species and you don't stock anything in the tank that can fit in their mouths.

Dwarf cichlids will be a good first place to look - many of these to choose from. Bolivian Rams, Keyholes, Apistogramma to name only a few.

slightly bigger cichlids would be Firemouths, Elliotis, Sajica. Depending on the height of the tank Angels could also be an option.

In summary - lots to choose from!

have a look through our species index for some more ideas....

i would agree with ZZ here and look at the smaller species in a 180. rainbow cichlids would be a nice fish to have in a tank that size but if you start going bigger then you may only be able to keep 1 or 2 fish.... also your current stock would be fine with rainbow cichlids and smaller. maybe a large group of bolivian rams would fill it very well and look awesome with plants and wood etc :good:
