After the sad and recent demise of the large Angel fish that lived in the club tank. I have been asked to find another large, pretty, colourful, middle swiming, confident (i.e always out) fish to be the main focus of the tank... but not another angel fish i'm told.

Any suggestions? The stocking so far is in my signature (not all my choice, the owner had a stab at it before I was employed)

Well apart from that tank not being suitable for a Gibby, as they grow to 2" they need a much larger tank.
there arent that many fish that suit what you want, that grow small, most fish that fit your requirements grow big! and most would eat the other fishes in that tank.

Ah! constructive critic.. Hold the phone, thats not constructive!

I know the Gibb will out grow the tank, so will the Knife Fish and the Talking Cat, the Long-Armed Shrimp, possibly the Pim Cats, Sucking loach and three Clown Loaches in my other tanks .

I have a very large tank sat in a garage but hopefully I'm not gonna need it for a couple of years yet since they are all fairly small and I don't have the space at the mo. Sorry to be stroppy but it seems like quite often on this site you can ask a question and get shot down for something else, I have no problems with growth I have several friends with big tanks, I used to be a zoo keeper and still have friends there, I have a huge back up tank, I'm not gonna chuck any of my fish into a river or anything.

I am struggling with a solution for this, How aggressive are Parrot Fish? or a few Head Standers, perhaps an impressive shoal of something or other would suffice?! There must be a large passive fish out there!

maybe a shoal of congo tetra's, i think they're absolutely stunning

Definately a posssibility, will have to have a look around for them. I don't know much about Tetra will they be cool with the Penguin Tetra?

I wanted to buy some Congo tetras yesterday but unfortunately have no room. Apparently they are a peaceful fish, best kept in shoals and not with small fish. They really are beautiful fish and i hope to get some myself one day.

yeah i don't see any compatibility problems. as ever do your own research to back it all up.

I think a nice big group of them looks stunning, lovely colours, subtle but striking. :D
