so i have been breeding apistogrammas for a while hence why i have a 55 gallon main tank with peacefull community fish..... well now im thinking of selling up and introducing some larger SA/CA cichlids to my fluval roma 240

Any suggestions for a possible stocking list?

I will probably keep my small keyholes maybe and my pair of bn plecs all the rest will just be classed as food to be honest.

anyone have any ideas for some med/large cichlids for a 55 gallon?

im affraid you wont be fitting any large cichlids in that tank so forget tha idea...

as for medium sized cichlids there are numerous to choose from. a lot depends on your lfs or if your prepared to travel for the right fish too. commonly available medium sized cichlids that spring to mind are firemouths, aureus, ellioti, blue acara, aequidens metae, convict, angelfish etc etc. i wouldnt go for anything much biger than 6 inches in a tank of that size especially if you want more than 1 specemin and dithers etc so you can forget the likes of oscars, green terrors, viejas, severums etc.

do a bit of research and take a look at oddball express as they have more cichlids to choose from than anyone i know and the deliver if its too far from you.

they are very common and usually overlooked but a tank of that size with a good group of rainbow cichlids, plenty of wood and rocks and dim lighting would look awesome as would keyhole cichlids. there are so many to choose from once you get looking so the best thing to do is research and come back with what you find instead of asking us straight out.
