I have just taken up this hobby and are looking for advice please.I have found myself a supherb aquarist retailer and have purchased a jewell korall 60 tank and have cycled this for 6 weeks, had water tested[all ok]and introduced 6xzebra danios and a betta siamese. What i would like to know is what anyone would recommend to go with the fish i have already purchased[all doing very well] and numbers.Sorry for what might appear a silly question

Hello Mick, welcome to the forum! :) And welcome to the hobby! :good:

Personally, i would recommend that Danio's are kept in a larger tank due to their level of activeness. 2 feet isn't really long enough for them imo.

The fighter sounds like a good choice though just becareful of what you stock with him as some fish can be very nippy towards his finnage etc, and he may view other fish (like male guppies) as enemies due to their colouration and attack them. Neon Tetra's in a nice group of 6-8 would look well.

When you say you 'cycled for 6 weeks' how did you cycle it?
Also, by your comment on 'had water tested (all ok)' i can only presume you do not yet have your own water test kit? If not, it really is in your best interest to get yourself one.... if you already do have one, then please feel free to tell me to mind my own business :D :good:

Anyway, keep us updated, and :hi: to the forum !!!!

Terry.

wouldn't dream of telling you to mind your own business as i appreciate all advice and thanks for taking the time. What are your thoughts on the API freshwater master and would £14.99 seem ok.as for cycling i followed advice from aquarist and set up tank[i have used live plants]and fed flaked food as sugguested but with no fish.

Yep :good: API test kit is generally regarded as one of (if not THE) best around, and for 15 quid is excellent (i normally pay 20-25 sheets on Ebay for mine).

I used flaked food in the fishless cycle of my first tank, then switched to pure household ammonia a couple of weeks into the cycle. Can you get hold of household ammonia? It is best to use this as you tell EXACTLY how much ammonia is going into your tank, perfect for your fishless cycle log :good:
