Apparently Juwel have made the new rio 300 & 400, taller, making them approx 350 and 450L

Also noticed that Fluval have got a new colour combo on the vincenza/venezia range.

Does seem a tad overkill, guess you dont have to use them all?

yeah...i wish they would update the filter systems though like they promised...but that never happened...another gripe of mine is with the rekord range...they could have put 1 T5 in instead of 2*T8's cheaper to run...cheaper bulb replacements and more efficient.

Is Juwel a brand? I am not familar with the UK tanks. Here in the states, there are just regular tanks. Some companies make small tanks that are a starter kit, but they aren't over a 20 gallon capicity.

that explains a lot. Ordered a Rio 300 last month online and was suprised when i opened up the box and found 2 x T5 light bars i.e 4 x Tubes.
Didn't notice the extra 4cm on the height. I thought there was a mistake or an update withe the lighting as all the websites said only 1 T5 unit.
Have just measured my tank and it is indeed the new 350 for the price i paid for the 300 - well pleased at that.

theyre not brilliant...flow is a bit poor and they block up quickly...the nitrate sponge is a gimick and it puts nitrate into the water as i did an experiment on it last year.
carbon sponge not needed...cirax is too expensive.

but the new ones were meant to have better flow patterns

Imo they already needed more width, not height, unless you want to keep discus or similar.
I actually quite like juwel filters, just the powerheads are unreliable, and you need to use lots of floss and regularly clean them out...Then they are also and eyesore.
Hoods suck, and in previous versions lights go faulty, when I get the money I'm ripping the hood off and getting an over tank light.
