I mentioned a little while ago i was upgrading to a 3ft fish tank I had picked the tank i wanted, decided on stocking, the lot!

Unfortunately a few weeks ago my beloved dog passed away at 15 years old. My house was just too quiet without a pooch so my fish tank fund has been spent on this little monster who i picked up on saturday.

She is a “Red Pedigree” Labrador Retriever, which means she is a Labrador Retriever who comes from a family of winning show dogs.
Her official Kennel Club pedigree name is "Ruby Fenflyer Star Chaser" but we will obviously just call her "Ruby" Both of her parents and grandparents are winning show dogs and have won numerous awards for track, field and appearance. She was 7 weeks old on Monday.

She has settled in wonderfully. I love her to bits, she is very hard work though! She hasn't had a single accident in the house, already sits at the back door when she wants to go out. I am VERY impressed how quick shes picking up this house training lark! She is very affectionate and loves to come have a cuddle, but loves even more to pull off my socks and run away with them.

Me holding her ( just so you can see how small she is)

Needless to say the new fish tank will have to wait a while, but i think she is worth it!

Aww thank you! I will try and put some new photos of her up next week. Shes a right little monster, but oh so cute!

Man, that's going to be me in a few months!

We're getting an 8-week old yellow lap puppy in mid-May.

And I'll third the nomination for POTM.

Haha, good luck! they are bloody hard work, but they are so worth it!

When they finally do as they are told or they are sitting playing nicely, you forget all the scratches and biting, trying to drink the dirty water from the fish tank when you clean it out, destroying your stuff, and it having gotten you up 3 times in the night only to chew your socks when you go to let him/ her out!

Wouldn't change her for the world. She is currently fast asleep on my feet!

she looks really healthy. Her eyes are bright, and her coat looks in good nick. Keep an eye for fleas, especially around the neck area, and keep her out and about on some hard surfaces, which will stay on top of her claws getting too long.

An absolutely georgeous puppy though.Well done.
Any questions pm me (I am a vet)

Oofh, I know!

The good thing is that my aquarium is on the second floor, and she won't be allowed to go up there!

It took Ruby 3 hours to master the stairs, then 2 hours after i bought a babygate to realise she could fit theough the bars and climb the stairs!

Thanks for the Tips Emmsy will be bugging you for advice for ever now!

Time for an update me thinks. Ruby is now 9 weeks old and has settled in at home unbeliveably well. Only had a handfull of tiddles on the floor since i got her, all of which were because i was busy and didnt get to the back door in time.

She has mastered: Sit, lay down, shake hands, almost mastered roll over, will "leave it" and "take it" on command if food is in my hand, we are currently working forward to leaving food on the floor, then leaving food on the floor even if i walk away. She is 90% there with roll over, but still gets a little confused with that and we are just starting work on recall this week.
She seems to be completely house trained too now and hasn't had any accidents in a good few days ( touch wood!)

So proud of my little monster

And now for a ton of photos!
