.... just bought 2 new ones to go in my 40 litre , was surprised to see the base of them wrapped in lead , i would have thought something less toxic would have been better .....

i thought the same when i first bought plants but most the plants i bought were wrapped in lead. suppose it cant be that bad as most peoples water supply pipes are lead

too dodgy going to scrapyards round here now , they have police watching for the skanks and rightly so ....

Lead is quite low in the reactivity series;

although it looks like lead its not,you can now buy rolls of zinc,and it feels and works the way lead would
