Okay, so today I bought some egeria densa today. I have taken them out of the post and planted them in the gravel.

Does this all sound okay? Do I need to do anything to keep them alive and make them grow?

Please don't ask me about my light. I have the light that came with my aquarium and I don't know anything about it.

Cool, thanks for that. So I don't need any fertilizers or CO2 stuff that I keep hearing about?

Haha, cool. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to grow? It's about 15cm now and I want it double that. How long will that take?

Wow, are you serious? I bought three of these things...

You won't be able to stop them growing. That's why they're recommended for new tanks as a cheap way to get things going. Every week, just cut them in half and re-plant the tops you've removed. If you let some of them grow long, they'll start to cover the surface and provide some shaded areas. Most fish like having the choice of a little shade.

That's so cool! I'm gonna buy some elodea densa too. What other plants do you think will look nice densa plants?

Whenever I've used Elodea, I mix a few Giant Vallis in with them; it's very effective.
