So I'm looking into a planted South American biotope for my 175 liter tank I brought second hand, already been sorted out with what to go for in terms of substrate, and I've also settled for a DIY CO2 system using the fire extinguisher method.. And now I'm onto lighting. I haven't looked at what bulbs the tank came with but I doubt they're anything other than what came with the tank.

I'm looking to grow plants such as Vallisneria, Amazon Swords, Micro Sword as a carpet type plant, Stargrass and then Frogbit on top. The tank itself is an AquaOne UFO corner tank so will be relatively deep which I'm sure will need to be taken into consideration in terms of lighting.

Any advice would be awesome as I'm not too sure where to start at the moment!

Seems like you would be a bit limited by a corner tank? The lights that come with tanks are usually not the best. I just put some t5 high outputs on my 55 gallon. But I have a rectangular tank and was able to shop around online. If you just want new bulbs you can always take yours to you LFS and match the size to a full spectrum or 12k.
