I had to take my midas back to the LFS, as I said in another thread, and my oscar kept looking for it and acting depressed, so I decided to get him a new tankmate as soon as possible...
So today I went to Tyler, a town 2 hours away, in hopes of finding something similar to his size. The problem is that pet shops usually get fish in two sizes: small and large. My oscar is medium.
I found some fairly big healthy looking oscars at PetSmart (the one in Tyler takes moderately good care of their fish,) and picked out an absolutely beautiful one... let me just say that he looked a lot bigger in the store than he does in my tank!!!
I was estimating him to be about half the size of my oscar, but he's more like a forth of the size... I put him in a breeding net so the two of them could get acquainted, and since my oscar has been showing signs of interest (and not aggression,) I'm about to release him.... wish me luck!! Pictures will be coming tomorrow assuming everything goes well.
Edit: Oh my gosh, that little bugger had the gall to charge straight up to Aristotle!!
