I have actually heard that you should breed siblings together as this keeps the strain pure, if you import a pair for breeding from one supplier they are bound to be brother and sister. I have been told this by many different breeders from all different countries.

Yup, you're right. Breeding siblings is the best thing to do in the means of quality. You can breed a couple of generations before anything could possibly go wrong, usually bloodlines are only branched out when breeder's are wanting different traits in their fish. Of course, this is only known by me from many hours of research about bloodlines and the possibilities of mixing lines etc.. lol

Oh yes, I know, but try to achieve the same strain through bettas with different bloodlines, then cross, and mix and et cetera.
