Hi All,
Just a quick note of introduction. I'm new to this board, but have been keeping fish (with various degrees of obsessiveness) for the past six years or so.
I'm recently married (just celebrated our one-year anniversary), and the good news is that my wife has gotten fallen in love with the fish-keeping hobby (though she has yet to clean a tank or a filter). The bad news is that she's especially fallen in love with BIG fish.
Against my better judgement, I've said okay to buying a Pacu. For those of you who don't know, this is an Amazon fish often sold in LFS to unsuspecting newbies. These suckers live over 20 years and can grow to about 18 inches or more in length and tip the scales at 12 pounds or more. Yikes!
Unfortunately, that means that we have a 250+ gallon aquarium in our future. I used to think 75 gallons was big.
We've got various other tropicals and some coldwater fish. My daughter's got a 10g in her room full of guppies that we rescued from the feeder fish tank at the LSF. Personally, among the fish we own, my favorites include goldfish, clownloaches, and white cloud mountain minnows.
Now, if I can only keep her away from those Oscars she keeps eyeing at the LFS...
