Help! I got a pair of Bolivian ram a week ago, but the male was fine, so I figured that it was just the fish. I made a large water change last night, and I'm trying to raise the temperature, but it's taking a while. I could put him in an isolation net in the much warmer fry tank. If you read this, please give your opinion.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone here will have answers for you. Be a bit more patient and understanding, rudeness wont fix your fish ;)

Sorry, I'll just watch my fish die a slow and painful death. I put him in my fry tank, which is much warmer, but he doesn't seem to be doing any better.

Oh, and by the way, if you know the answer to this problem, please tell me.

I am one of those people to of read this thread but cant share any help on the issue (hence why i read but never posted) It must be terrible not knowing what you can do to help, but sometimes even with humans there is nothing that can be done and we must also accept this as a fact of life.

It will be short of a mirracle if someone comes up with an idea to save your fish within 30 minutes of going to post, considering so many limiting factors like users with the knowlege being online and a indepth prognosis from yourself in order for the more experianced users to offer a diagnosis and cure.

But I got him yesterday! He's still alive, but he's breathing REALLY hard and resting on the bottom of the breeding net. I just made a water change with low pH water. I don't know what to do! Help!

Sounds like lack of oxygen, but if the other fish are not doing this I don't know.
One thing that springs to mind though is that my blue rams flare their gills out at each other, I thought it was a pair but I guess it is two males as they have now divided the tank into terratories. They only do this for a few seconds though not continuously. Rams are sensitive to ph could it be that?

Could you add an airstone.

Were the Ram's fighting, with this one being the weaker of the two. Therefore being chased around the tank.
Whats the Ram's colour like?
Has he gone a really bright colour (with very bright eyes)

Okay, he's back in the breeding net and looking absolutely aweful. He's laying at a slight angle and breathing deeply. I think he's a gonner. Too bad we couldn't save him.

Posting the water stats would be a good start if you want some help.

Why are you trying to raise the temparture? What has it dropped to and why?

I think it was because my tap water is alkaline beyond help. I couldn't lower it with chemicals. Good news, though! I have a spring a little way behind my house with crystal clear and very acidic water! :yahoo:
