east midlands aquatics has these in. he spams his facebook with them. i think im in need of new bulbs. im not sure how old mine are tbh.

these are £34 n about £15 postage.

I am very interested in a pair of these but if using with an existing light unit you will have to modify the electrics in order to us the LED tubes,

INSTALLATION NOTE: When replacing conventional fluorescent (neon) tubes in existing fittings with LED tubes the starter must be removed and the ballast should be bypassed.

SO this has put me off (slightly)

Basically means they must be connected straight to 240V. Normally for a fluorescent there is a ballast in series with the tube (and the starter is in parallel with the tube). No good for Juwel and other built in units as not possible to access the ballest as it is a sealed unit.

Also be careful as quite a lot of these LED units are not waterproof as they are designed to be placed in standard office type fluorescent tube fixtures, so you can't use them in the hood above your tank for instance.

Rip off in my opinion, for the cost of one tube you could build your own better unit from high power LED's, if you can solder two wires together you can build your own unit quite easily.
