Hey,

I've been ill so treated myself to some new fish today.. One new betta (check him out in the Betta forum, he's gorgeous! :D ) and this little killi to go with the mal i already have..

The pics aren't great, but its really hard to get a pic when they stay so close to the top :/

What kind of killifish is it? Beside everything else we brred I normally maintain 5 to 10 types of killifish. Here is a pic of a male Nothobranchius kilomberoensis minepa Tan 00-14

Yeah!
What type of Killifish have you. Your pictures are of a female, Aphyosemion/Fundulopanchax species. Whats the male. Did you get them from the same source (are they the same species) Do you have a pic of the male.

Yes the male is of the same species  I believe they're fudulopanchax gardneri nigerianus, or something very similar ;)

I bought a pair, but lost the female several months ago so have bought this one to keep the male company.

Here's the male :)

They are indeed Fp gardneri nig. As to the population I'm unsure, possibly Makurdi.

:hey:

Looking good, hope they get along! pictures are quite dark have her colours brightened or is she quite pale?

Ben

Should her colour change? From what i can see she seems to have stayed the same, you can just see the red dots a bit clearer. She seems fine though. She has eaten well (she loves bloodworm lol) and is getting on really well with the male! :)

That's a stunning male you have there Jessica :) are you hoping for them to breed ?

I have some Aphyosemion australe Chocolate, and have to say the female is pretty drab and very non-descript too.

John that's a gorgeous fish you have there too :)

Those fish are stunning all of them. I never knew that Killifish were that pretty. They all are very pretty

There's nothing wrong with her colour, exactly as it should be.

Well I finally succumbed and got myself a pair of killifish.

They are some form of Gardneri, the male has very yellow fins

Again, "YES" they are Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus, I'm almost sure that they are the "akure" strain, but not 100%. Good to see that more aquarists on this forum are getting into Killis, If you search hard enough for them you will eventually find them.

I've seen a pair of killifish kept in a beautiful 5gallon vivarium, thats probably your absolute minimum.

Ben

Can they be kept with black tetras and common plecos? If so how many could I put in a 55g tank with a common pleco?
