Hello!

I am new here and just wanted to say hi. I am getting my first betta on wednesday, he is a lovely Turquoise Green Red White Rose-tail Male, called Cecil, and I have a 10 gallon tank set up and waiting for him.

I have some moss (not java...although might be...hubby is the one who knows the names!) two mossballs, other greenery and a lovely set of round rock, actually I went mad and brought several, but I am starting with light rock, will be changeing them from time to time. A really nice cactus pot (no cactus in it!) for him to hide in and heater, filter too.

I put a almond leaf in yesterday so the tank is nice and ready by wednesday.

How long do you recommend that I let him acclimatize when he comes? I Have read that a dim lit room is good for when you open his bag, then slowly add water from the tank, but I also read that it might stress him if he cant get out of the bag?

Anna

Hi, cecil. it always good to have a dim or even no light on whilst acclimatizing, also after the indian almond leave has been the tank for 36 hours remove it and then just add one when the tannings fade a lot, after 36 hours the leaves start to decompose thus increasing the ammonias in the tank

Thank you, I was going to leave it in indefinitely! Gawd, there is soo much contradicting info about.
