I made another rescue attempt from an LFS. I think this guy is actually quite a lovely find
I'm thinking he's a CT.. but I don't think he's quite there, but then again it could've been the conditions he was in. Ended up having to set up another tank for the males, and divide it. I know this guy is pretty young, the shop buys all their fish in young - especially the female betta's, they look like miniatures tbh.

So, whaddaya think? I think he should be capable of breeding eh? :hyper:

Beautiful guy, but you really shouldn't try to breed LFS fish. You don't know how they'll turn out and in the end many of them are stuck in the cup scenario.

I've got a good LFS who will take any fry, and they don't do the whole betta in the cup thing - they have barracks. I wouldn't think of breeding them unless I knew they were going to a good place. The LFS is very respectable.

Hrmf. After a few days of him, he may be beautiful but he is one ignorant fish! He's got a wooden cave, and he's found the tiniest bit inside it to curl up and stay there. Honestly, I have to pick the cave up and lift it out of the water slowly for him to come out and get fed! I've only seen him when I do this to feed him. -- just in case anyone thinks I'm taking him out of the water, I mean I lift the cave out while he swims out.

At least my other betta swims up to greet me when I go up to the tank!

He could still be stressed out and scared. Maybe he just wants some alone time

I did think that at first, but he's pretty aggressive in that tank - I had to change the divider so he couldn't see my other betta. So can't see how he'd be scared.. and he's had time to settle in as well. I only put plants in to start with to let him get comfortable then added the cave, so before that was put in he swam about fine.

coolfish!!! i have one just like that he's a crountail he just needs some medecine for his fins i suggest freezed dried bloodwoorms and a LITTLE of ionade-less salt in his water for his fins and adrop or bettafix i did that on mine and he turned out just fine :good:
