Hi, i have purchased the Juwel Korall 60 fish tank (53ltr). I have never kept tropical fish or any other kind so am looking for help!! I have filled gravel (fairly deep) few ornaments and i will put a piece of wood (its currently soaking) into the tank. With this in the total water volume is about 45ltr. Please see pic of my current tank. I will add some plants for the background and small ones at front. How many fish in total could i fit into my tank and what sort should i get? Im looking for a mix of colourfull ones but would like a community of 5 or so of same species. Also should i get any that eat crap from floor like shrimps?

Im looking for low maintenance, something to enhance my apartment and something for me to enjoy.

Regards and im sorry i know this has been asked before but you have to start somewhere right?

Regards Pazmeister

tank looks ok but deffinatly a work in progress, remember the deeper the gravel the deeper the gunk will get buried and cause ammonia if you dont have a strict cleaning regime, the amount of fish you can have depends on the spieces you get, shrimps are a great addition to any tank, as for the crap on the floor, its your job to clean that up

Tank looks great. :good:
You can get about 5 cherry barbs or 5 neon tetras, possibly a 2-3 platies and for bottom dwellers, a couple of shrimp.

I highly reccommend not getting any types of cories for a 53 liter tank. If you get a school cories, it'll only boost up your ammonia levels and will overstock your tank.

~I wish you the best.

How bout a school of 12 neons, and some shrimp for the bottom? Only 1 species but neons look great in large schools. Densley plant with amazon swords and some wood and you have a beautiful tank.

Certainly unusual, like the idea and the volcano, but not the blue gravel, the faces are quite frightening, I would like to see some plants but they don't go with volcano.........umph!!

I quite like the volcano! It looks great with the red light in it :good:

It's all down to personal taste. It doesn't matter weather we like it or not, as long as you like it! :good:

Thanks for replies. Wood added, im looking to get a few plants as mentioned. The turqoise gravel is same colour as my living room curtain and painted feature wall and i understand it looks different to some but in my apartment it goes well with the general theme. I was told by staff in fish shop that gravel needs to be deep if im having live plants so they can root. What tank temperature do you recommend? Does getting shrimp for the floor take away the total number of fish i can have? Would 5 small (neon tetra) 2 guppys and either one larger or 2 medium size fish plus few floor shrimp be too much?
I plan on 1 plant in front left corner 1 to the right next to volcano, 3 at the back of tank along the glass and 1 small in mid ground fairly central

I like the wood, you just need a backing on now, so you can't see the wires etc, I would love to see this tank when all is done, and fish...........
