I picked up a dozen juvenile red tailed gooeids, Xenotoca eiseni, yesterday at a club auction but realized when I got them home that I really have no idea how to care for them. I put them in an almost unused tank that had only corydoras in it until the goodeids were added. Now it has 12 goodeids and 8 corydoras habrosus in it. The temperature according to what I have found on line doesn't matter much and the goodeids seem quite happy in the tank exploring it. I always was concerned about the hardness and pH being a bit too high for my cories so I guess the goodeids will like that aspect. The tank is only a 29 so I need to get my 50 gallon set up soon as I think they will outgrow the 29. I have spirulina flake and sticks available, a good balanced growth pellet and of course the usual general purpose flakes and small frozen foods. I was thinking of feeding mostly the spirulina flake and the growth food with once or twice a week treats of the frozen stuff.
Is there anything I am missing or will this be OK for them?

Sounds fine to.

These are slow growing though, may take 18 months for the for grow fully but they can start breeding from 8-12 weeks.
Gestation is around 6-8 weeks
Temperature should not go above 76, best at 68-72 and will go down to low 60's.

Good luck with these stunning fish also it's one of the first gooeids i ever had, and I love them to bits ;)
