I just got another Clown to pair with my gold stripe, so far they aren't tryin' to kill eachother. How long do I need to wait before I can be sure they are cool? Is it days or will i know by the end of the day?

you should know right away.. if they like each other they will pair up right away usually

That's what I've heard. They've been in the tank for about an hour now with no casualties yet. The new clown is about 1/2 or 1/3rd the size of the old one... :flex:

that usually helps. Especially with gold stripes. They usually Go after any other fish Right away.

ok, so there's been no damage, i'm assuming they are compatible. Last night when I turned off the lights the old one went to her cave and the new one stayed up in the corner with the powerheads for a while. Before it was almost totally dark I would see her swim up there to try and nudge him down, but he wouldn't come. I ended up seeing him sleeping on the sand at the front of the tank between some of the larger pieces of rubble that came with my LR. Tonight when I turned off the lights he went back there... :( She came out to get him again, made him lay on his side in the sand and stuff, but he still wouldn't go with her. I kinda moved my mag-float over him, i plan on lowering it slowly so as not to scare him into thinkin' he's being smooshed. At least he could feel like he has a cave, and would be a little more protected at least if the CBS decides to venture to someplace new (He never seems to venture too much in the front part of the tank right outside his own cave, just everywhere else). How long does it usually take until they start sleepin' in the same area, i really would like him to get off the floor  .

It would seem that he is afraid of her, give him some time unless hes gay then you'll have some more friendly relations soon. it could be worse, she could dislike him.

There is no guarentee they will pair up. accepting each other is one hurdle you seem to have overcome, Getting them to pair up is another hurdle entirely. Im afraid that this might well be something you cannot interfere with and just let them sort this out for themselves. :/

I guess, as with all things saltwater, I'll have to continue to be patient. At least this morning when I turned on the lights he wuz the first one up and out. He saw her in the cave and actually swam over and stayed near waiting for her to come out :look:
