Hi, I recently found some fry in my tank so I caught what I could find and put them in a breading net to prevent them being eaten due to the fact I haven't the money the money to get a fry tank.

Anyway I was wondering how long it will take for my fry to grow to a reasonable size so I can take them out of the breading net without them being eaten by the other fish?

They are lyretail fry btw

It's just I have plans for my tank adding new plants some more wood and what have you and to be totally honest I want to keep the fry just because i've never had fry before but the breading net is getting in the way of my plans lol. Sounds bad I know but I recently found out I can have a decent planted tank which i've wanted since I got the tank but just never thought i'de be able to do it because it seemed abit complicated

Your probably looking at about 2-3 weeks before they can be released, but it also depends on what other fish in are in the tank..

What else you got in it?

(if a fish can fit it in its mouth, then the rule is, dont risk it...

i've got:
fully grown lyretails
neon tetra
baby clown loach
baby pleco

I would wait til they are about 4-6 weeks old, feed them a good diet and do more regular water changes (promotes growth) and they will soon get big.

As long as they dont fit in the other fishes mouth, u will be fine.
