i now have 2 angel fish :p which just arnt aggressive but love em lol

i now have found a home for my fishies that needed to be rehomedd *thank you* and would now like a bigger fish(or 2) in my tank.....

my tank is almost 200 litres,,, planted etc.... id love a shark (not bala now i know!) - something thats not going to kill my angels or some bigger fish which will be anice centrepiece kinda.......

dont particularly want small fish or shoals.......
and something that wont eat my angels/pick on them..... i dont mind something non aggressive - just nothing small lol ohh and prety lol.... i like parrot fish but i dont think dyed ones will go down well :(
any ideas?????

Parrots can also have a go at the angels IME ;)

Have a look at the larger gouramis, like golds, opalines, lace e.t.c

so have you just got two angels atm ?

for a shark you can go for either a red tailed black shark or a Rainbow, bear in mind though that these may become quite aggressive when they mature, (aren't likely to worry angels though)

a pair of keyholes or Bolivian Rams may be an option,

As for catfish you could look at Male Bristlenose plecs and Pim Pictus Catfish

you could also add maybe a pair of golden panchax, these do look pretty but they are predatory and give you a nice burst of colour for the top of the tank,

what about a black shark?? lol??

electric eel - - lmao!!!!! yeah that would be ermmmm cool lol - any guests in my house i dont like :p

You already have some 6 inch fish in your tank, they are called angels. The blue or pearl gouramis also get quite large and are usually not too bad with other fish. RTBS has already been suggested but they can be a bit aggressive. Another decent sized fish, often sold quite small, are gold barbs at over 2 inches and heavy bodied as adults. Some generally peaceful but large fish are rainbow cichlids, herotilapia multispinosa. They will get about 5 inches long and are quite a heavy looking fish. Here is a picture of some of mine.

Note for perspective: the gravel in this tank is about 1/4 inch

thanks for the reply

can i not get acouple of bala sharks..... and then upgrade my tank?

how longwill it take before i have to get anew tank or is it really not worth it???

Not realy worth it IMO. Ballas will get to about 12-18" in a normal tank, though 36" is apparently possible, indead a work collegue has seen some he recons were about that in Chester Zoo... My personal opinion of Ballas is that very few can house them properly, so they should not be offered by the trade, except under special conditions for public aquariums e.t.c  It's a shame, they are nice fish. If you do get them, they will need a group of 6+ to feel secure and stop them swimming into stuff when there is only a minor fright. Adults have been known to swim through panes of glass when startled  6ft tank bare minimum for adults, larger is preferable

All the best

My daughter has two Balas in a 90gal....they are going to be trouble later, as when they feel cramped, they get very skittish. When they get skittish, they hurt themselves on decor or the sides of the tank. Her ex-boyfriend gave them to her, and she's been forced to go from a 40gal to a 90gal....and that won't be the end of it!

ok thanks guys...

im planning an upgrade to about 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot (or higher if i can)

they are readily available at my local pet shops.... in small tanks too

i'll read up on those catfish :)
