New Fish

 He is lovely. How big is he now?? I love his name, Flash Gordon.

I hate it when these cameras go bust. I had one for 2 years, no problems, then when I bought a few Trilineatus cories a few months ago, the thing broke!! Stupid focus packed in (which apparently was a common thing!!). So we had to get another one, since the kids Christmas plays are only a few weeks away!!

:D

uhhhm.... can you post some info on flash plecos....

the "candy stripe" plecos sold down here are appaently flash plecos being sold for $8. I might be tempted to get a few more, as I've heard flash plecos cost more too :D

Hi Gankutsuou

The L204 - Flash Plecs grow to about 5". They love to eat wood and apparently love veggies, I have put in my tank for mine, but he is sticking to his wood for now. Animal protein can be given when you want to breed them, to help the female mature her eggs.

I have found they this little guy is out a lot more than the other plecs in the tank with him (the L134's). Very striking little thing.

I see the candy stripe have thicker stripes, where as the flash have just a thin white/yellow stripe. So if those are what they have, and at that price, get one. Although those could also be the L104, which are smaller than the L204's. They seem to have a bit of an orange tinge to them.

They like Ph of 6.6 - 8.6 and temperature 24.0-30.0°C or 75.2-86°F. Obviously they need driftwood to eat and hide in when they feel unsafe. May become territorial with age and do best in a active community tank with peaceful fish. Sand substrate is best, as with all plecs. And when breeding, they needs slate caves.

:D

I'll get a tiny piece of bogwood for him then. He's strictly stuck to the slate caves I've made. His lines are super thin and yellow. I've had one, but it was labeled candy stripe.

Hate to question that as an L204, but he looks a LOT like mine, and mine was deemed a clown pleco.

how big is the cute guy  ?

The two do look very similar, and we did wonder when we got him if he wasn't the L104, but he's calmed down now and looks just like the L204's in the pics from PlanetCatfish. So I assume ours is a L204. Our little guy is only almost 2 inches. He is really teeny tiny, but the cutest. He does poop loads.

:D

hmmmm. Well, it's a good thing that such similar fish have similar requirements (like wood and so on).
