I have just purchased some new fish, both on a whim
so I need a bit of info on them.

first up is the fire tetra???? anyone know their scientific name, as all I get are hits for flame tetras :S

and secondly
peacock goby Tateurndina ocellicauda

I know the size and water requirements but I'm a bit confused on their temperment
so anyone that owns them can you tell me please.

We have probably all bought fish on a whim from time to time (And those that have never done so, no need to say, we know you are there and the perfect fish keepers :alien: )

Don't know anything about the fire tetras, but peacock gudgeons are supposed to be very peaceful if everything I have read is anything to go by. Have been wanting a pair of these myself...

What ratio of male/female do you have of the gudgeons?

The tetra looks very much like Hyphessobrycon Amandae - Ember Tetra

Originates from Brazil, males are more intensley coloured than females.

Ph <7, Length 3cm, Temp 24-28C, very peacefull.

thats the one!
great, now I can do some proper research.
thanks Duffman, oh yeah

Edit
I just have one male and one female
no more cash untill payday so
won't be able to add more females (if needed)
untill next week

Whilst most aquarium literature states that Peacock gobies are very peaceful, I had one that went after my neons at night and inflicted some nasty wounds on a female siamese fighter. I may have just had a bit of a lairy one but I wouldn't keep them with v.small fish again.
