well, after the great heater disaster of 2007 my spankin new 4ft was VERY empty  so i did what any lfs employee would and bought me some new fish. i was going to completely restock as even though the tank is new the substrate and every in it is from the old 3ft and there is a cycled 700lph canister filter and a 1200lph power head. stats have been ok for the last couple of days sincei set it up. anyway, i let my head rule this time and only bought a few fishies to start with :)

first on my list now i have a 4ft is a bumblebee catfish :) hes a real looker. about 8cm long at the moment and hes taken up residence hiding in the car wreck in the tank :) hasnt come out yet so i have no pics of him yet but ill keep trying :good:

i also got two small angels. my husband has wanted angels and i kept saying no but seeing as i seem to be starting again we can go down another path now our tastes have changed a bit :) no pics of those as for a change i cant be bothered taking photos

another long time want was a sucker fish. i got me a gold one :) theyre so cute with their black eyes... no pic of him yet for the same reason as mentioned above :)

i also replaced my clown loach with another. hes kinda small and pretty active. settling in really well :good: i dont think ihave to say why i dont have a pic of him

and finally 4 black skirt ?? widow ?? tetras. im not sure exactly what they are called. theyre the silver ones with the black stripes on the side and the big black bottom fin (the name escapes me right now  )

im busting to fill my tank but i must be patient :)

will get some pics later of everyone and post them :)

UPDATE > ok so i took some pics :) couldnt help myself

i managed one of the bumblebee catfish but its not great. have also added randoms of some of my survivors :)

yeah it sucks. was an awful experience but now i do get the restocking part which is very cool :)

definitely going to get more yoyo loaches. when i got him i didnt have the 4ft yet and i had to make sure what room i had :) am actually going to the place where i got him today to get a background for my new tank so i might get a few more. hes an awesome little fella. thought i was going to lose him in the fish stew my tank was the other day

Em' didn't you have something breeding in the car wreck? I seem to remember someone hiding out in there.

What happened to your heater and fish? I haven't been on for a while, so I guess I missed it, sorry for your losses tho.

not in the car wreck. in the boat :) the car wreck is new and the bumblebee catfish likes to hang otu in there ;) now with the pair of bristlenoses in each tank i bought two more of those boats so each tank has one. in eery tank the males are using the boat now :) they love it

well i got a 4ft tank on thursday and bought a heater to go in it. put it in at about 8pm then went to bed at 2am and heater was fine. but...thermostat was buggered so it kept heating through the night. came out friday morning and the water temp was up to 34C. lost most of my fishies :(

The Great Heater Meltdown of 2007

You know I was reading another thread a fair while back where the same thing had happened. One of the replies said that they always use two small heaters rather than one big one to stop things like that happening, that way if one gets stuck on the other will shut down and the water shouldn't get so hot so quickly and vice versa if one gets stuck off then other one will keep the water warm enough so the fish don't die. At the time that I read that I thought it was a good idea, now I think it's an even better idea!

You wont see your bumblebee catfish because they are very shy. Tank looks really good. What temperature is your tank set at? Because panda cory's like around 20-22c.

yeah he is shy but he comes out to feed and every now and then he swims out for a while.

tank is set at 25
