Just bought some tetras. They were swimming about normally when first introduced now they've calmed down and are hovering at the bottom of the tank all together sort of quivering. I just switched the light back on as it's been an hour and they darted about like maniacs in a panic so I switched it back off.

Is this normal behaviour?

Yes; leave the lights off for the rest of the day, don't feed anything today, and they should be fine by tomorrow :good:

Need time to get used to the new setup. Leave the lights off for the day and see how they get on tomorrow. Neons are such fags

Thanks these are diamond Tetra. The tank is fully cycled and all and I did the proper floating bag and adding water thing. They must just be scared

No, it is not normal behaviour.

Water parameters? Setup information? Species? Numbers? Decor?

0 amonia or nitrite. The tank is fully cycled and there has been one fish in it for a month now. The tank was cycled with mature media.

The new fish are diamond tetra with one eye. This tank is by a mirror and that is where they are looking out with their eyes. There are 3 of them. They aren't laying down or anything. They are just in one place looking out.

Was the room (and therefor tank) completely/mostly dark prior to switching the light on? If so then the fish are most likely just startled. Leave the lights on and see if they calm down in a few minutes.

Yes was all dark for an hour. Just switched it on again and they are not startled now.
