I'm setting up a new aquarium that I have and it still doesn't have any fish. I'm putting guppies and tetras in there. There is this white stuff kind looks like soap scum can this come off. I tried rubbing it off but when the tank dries it comes back. How can I get rid of it?

:hi: to the forum!! :fish: :fish:

As for the white stuff it may be hard water marks. Is it a glass aqarium? Try looking for some cleaning bottle that says it removes lime and hard water stains. That should help.

Yes, it is a glass aqarium. Is that safe for the fish? Do they sell in pet stores

I have heard of some products for fish tanks that are made for cleaning hard water off the tank. I personally have never used any of them. I have always used household cleaning products. As long as you rinse it out well and it does not smell like the chemical you used to clean it you should be fine.

I got my fishes today! I got 5 guppies for $5, 2 platies for $2.50, and a pair of betta fish ( the male is in his on bowl). I was wondering if i bought two more female bettas I could put the male in with the other fish. I really want to put pics but i dont know how can someone tell me.

Congrats on the new fishies :fish: :yahoo:!!
You cannot combine the male and female bettas, as they do not get along.
How big is your tank??

Usually when you do a post there is an option right under the posting box. It is titled as attachements or something close to that. You click on the box on the far right that says browse. This will bring up a files folder and from there you can find where you have your pictures saved. Then you click to upload the pictures. You have to make sure they fit the pixel requirement though, else it will not upload the photo. Then you click in the box where it says attach, and you click on the pictuers you uploaded and add them to your post.

Or

If you have a photobucket.com or some kind of images online account. you can just click on the image link when you are posting up where the bold/italic/underline boxes are click on the picture, and there you can insert a link from the page where you photo you want to show is located.

Hopefully this makes sense. As it is sometimes hard to describe easily. If you still have problems uploading, ask over in the Tropical Chat section, as more people are over there, then in this forum.

nope the male cannot go with the female, but if your tank is big enough you could get a few more females, they do better alone or in groups of 4 :good:

:hi:

:hi: to the forum

congrats on your new fish! i also have guppies and think their really lovely fish and easy to look after i've had 6 of mine for a few months now and have recently bought another female so i could get another male, are yours male or female?

I think that they are all males but one of them is silver but has a yellow fins. But they have all the anal fins the same. Or whatever they are called.

This are some of the picks not many but some of t6he ones i uploaded to photobucket.
I also got a new home for my male betta it is one of those plastic critter home. I got the large one got a light for it and a rock filter. Will the bubbles bother him i bought another air pump that has adjustable air thingy and i switch it to make it blow bubbkles every two seconds and it is not a lot of bubbles but they do make little ripples on the water. Will this bother him to much so he wont make a nest.I want to breed my bettas.

the guppies are all male as far is i can tell, before even thinking about breeding bettas then you have to do a ton of research, i know people that have been researching for near a year and still don't know all about it, never mind how time consuming and expensive it is

I have been reading about fish 3+ months before i got my fidh tank and i came across alot of breeding sites so i kinda know some things but i'm stilll doing research. money and time won't be a problem.
