Hi everyone,

Just wanted to take a moment to drop a post saying hello – I stumbled across this sight and was attracted by the nice layout and intelligent responses (not to mention the light banter)

Anyway, lets see – my wife (Mrs. Crimson Ghost) and I have been hacking away at this hobby for a little over 2 years now, we have 1 and only 1 tank – a relatively large reef tank.

Our 3 year old son loves the tank, we used the tank to teach colors and counting. When he was two he would spend hours chasing the hermit crabs back and forth the front of the tank – a six foot tank is immense to a 2 year old! So this family hobby has been a real pleasure for us.

Well, that’s pretty much all I wanted to share on this thread – look forward to chatting with you all.

hi, yes i know what you mean, my 4 yr old knows the names of nearly all my fish, makes me laff when we go into an lfs and he tells the staff what fish are in there tanks ;) , he usually knows better than they do.

Don't you love the way when you go into fish shops and say you want xyz fish they go... oooh yes very nice fish that...  Every time all the fish are very nice :)

Welcome to the forum :D

My kids love my tanks too and as you said ......they can be a very valuable teaching aid :D

teaching aid :( , when my little un was 3 , i cought him stripped naked, with one foot in the green terror tank :p , said he was going swimming  , and he fed them once, a whole 200g of flake and a bottle of meth blue :/ , masses of water changes and tons of carbon later, they did survive tho :D

kids, who'd have um

Actually I don't have a local fish store, everything we buy is via the internet. I had one store open up semi-locally, I purchased my system from her (nice lady, just dumb as a post) She sold me all the wrong fish - I don't even want to get into the money wasted there. That store made it 1 year....trust me, I know why.

I use fishsupply, gulf-view and Garf. Actually, if anyone wants to recommend any internet sites to me I would appreciate it. I like the layout on Fishsupply, since they give ratings on difficulty and pictures (helps clueless people like us).

Sorry Sue. Pete and the missus were at it as well last night but they didn't spill tea.

C. G. where are you from? it might help in recommending internet suppliers for you. not much point giving you a UK addy if you live in the States.

hello Crimson Ghost... I just want to say hello and to let you all know how my 3 children react to my fish. :(  I have a 6 year old and a 7. Plus an 8 month old. There all girls. My 2 older girls hate my Oscar very bad... But love my Plecco. But My new born, when i hold her in front of the tank or place her in her high chair, thinks there a great way to wiggle, scream, wave her arms, kick her legs, and just plain have a great time like I do with my fish. I just wish I could get my older kids to like em as me and there baby sister do. lol

Ah, excellent point. I am in the states, Pennsylvania – Very close to NJ actually, so much so that I work in Jersey.

:D Hi Mr & Mrs Crimson Ghost, welcome to the best fish forum on the net. You may not find all the answers here but you'll have great fun trying! ;) Mac.

Somebody's got to I suppose.
I may have a couple of sites for you. I've got them scribbled down here on a piece of paper somewhere. I'll dig it out and post back.
