2 days ago I got some really pretty fancy guppys, I bought 6 but when I got home I had 9! I am not sure how that works. I thought I had bought 2 males and 4 females ( a good ratio to stop fighting?) but it turns out I have 3 males and 6 female (2 very young though).
Sadly this morning when I woke up one of the older females was dead. Since I bought them a very heavily pregnant female has been acting really really strange, she is gasping for air and not moving much at all. :(
I checked my Ammonia/Nitrite and they are both at 0. My Nitrate is only just enough to tint the water colour in the test tube so it's low too.
The female who is acting odd is obviously about to die, while I was writing this she stopped swimming and is now against the filter. What could be wrong? There is no obvious growth or problem with her. The other fish are all fine. The female that died was acting totally normal last night.
The only thing I can think of is that the males bullied her in the night. The female who is dieing now though keeps away from all the other fish though, it's strange. :-( It's so sad, I was hoping that she would have her babys soon.

Like I said the water is perfect, that's what makes me so worried. It's Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate less than 5ppm.
This preggers female is very old I think, she is about 1.5~2 inches long compaired to the others who are about 1 inch long. I just noticed she has a slight red tint under her chin, maybe blood?

They have only been fed once by me. There are live plants in the tank though that they may have eaten when I wasn't looking.
I really hope she can give birth before she dies, she is carrying 20~30 fry, she is huge. The fry would do so well in this tank, it's sad :(

She just died :-(. I only have 2 mature females left among 3 males. The 2 other females are just fry. I hope they will be ok until monday when I can buy 3 more female guppys. The males keep dancing around the females and trying to nip at them already. :(

The new guppys could of fetch parasites into the tank, gill flukes heavy breathing red inflamed gills, or pale gills, flicking and rubbing against objects.

Are they showing any of the above symptoms mentioned.

I googled and read up on Flukes and it does sound very much like what my fish are suffering from. The female who was preggers did have inflamed areas and trouble breathing. The two small females are now being very lathargic too.

Edit: The two best males in the tank feep dancing and flicking against objects.
