Fish Fanatic
2 days ago I got some really pretty fancy guppys, I bought 6 but when I got home I had 9! I am not sure how that works. I thought I had bought 2 males and 4 females ( a good ratio to stop fighting?) but it turns out I have 3 males and 6 female (2 very young though).
Sadly this morning when I woke up one of the older females was dead. Since I bought them a very heavily pregnant female has been acting really really strange, she is gasping for air and not moving much at all.
I checked my Ammonia/Nitrite and they are both at 0. My Nitrate is only just enough to tint the water colour in the test tube so it's low too.
The female who is acting odd is obviously about to die, while I was writing this she stopped swimming and is now against the filter. What could be wrong? There is no obvious growth or problem with her. The other fish are all fine. The female that died was acting totally normal last night.
The only thing I can think of is that the males bullied her in the night. The female who is dieing now though keeps away from all the other fish though, it's strange.
It's so sad, I was hoping that she would have her babys soon.
