I ordered some fish and they were in the box for 2 days. 8 of the 19 Rummynoses were dead in the 3 bags they were in. SOme were so disintegrated I almost didn't have a full head count. The water was pretty foul as well. Now the remaining tetras look ROUGH. I was basically just wondering if I should watch for a few days for improvement, or if I should have something like melafix in the water with them. I don't like adding things to the water, but melafix is harmless, so I thought I would get your opinions.

Here's a video:

Thanks. Poor things. Lost one overnight. Good thing I like water changing too ;) The rest of the shipment still looks shell shocked but active.

I had no ground to stand on. They offered overnight shipping and I chose two day.

Yeah, after receiving my Angelfish today, I would say the packaging of yesterdays shipment sucked. They had room to roll around and be jostled.

The angelfish today were packed like there was a bomb inside. They were in the mail the same amount of time, but the angelfish and plecs are already swimming around and look great besides some slight wear on their fins.

Woke up to a bunch of rummynoses with ich. I'm so mad!

I have kuhli loaches, so I can't use salt. I have Quinine Sulfate, which is safe for scaleless fish AND plants, but I had melafix in the water because the rummys markings were raised.

I don't want to be tossing a bunch of different medications in the water here. Not sure what to do.

I love Tizer's deep and insightful suggestions.

Any update on progress?

Most of the remaining rummys have spots. There one tough looking dude, no spots. All of the other fish are spot-free. It'll be fine. I used a milder medication and after 14 days if they aren't better, I'll hit them with the big guns. I did the second day treatment today. I could have the temp a bit higher, I'll work up to it. My plants are obviously important to me too.

Lol Tizer's a funny dude. I wouldn't bin fish that I just spend as much money on as I did though. He's like the bad conscience on your shoulder  You want to eat the ice cream, but your jeans wouldn't button the next day if you do. :grr:

Its how i would feel :) I might not do it, but i'd be wanting to just get rid and start fresh :)

Well the good news is that I am seeing less spots already and the rummys are pretty active. None of the other fish have a single spot. :good:
