new filter

like i said, i got a new filter the other day. it is an aqua one (pretty sure these are specific to australia) internal filter 1200L/H. anyways it came with a venturi as an accessory and the enclosed instructions are terrible.. what is this? and what does it do?

i dont even have it on the filter at the minute because i couldnt get it to attach. it is just an air tube with a black thingy on the end. i think it is to increase movement of the waters surface but i really dont know.. any ideas would be great, especially how to get it onto the filter

A venturi drags air from the surface and the air is then sprayed out of the filter outlet with the filtered water. looks kind of like you have an airstone in your filter. whether you use it or not is up to you, as long as the filter output agitates the waters surface, there is no need for the venturi, it purely cosmetic. Don't have that type of filter so can't advise on how to fit it, sorry.

that was really helpful, im going to keep trying to attach it to see how it looks, because my filter doesnt really agitate the water surface to much....
