My Eheim Pro II 2026 is coming today and I currently have a cycled tank with a filter already on the tank. I'm wondering how I can get the Eehim to get the beneficial bacteria on it. Should I just put some filter floss thats already in the cycled filter into the new one? I'll be keeping the old one on too for a while so the bacteria can transfer to the new one too.

just let both filters run together at least a week
adding floss from your mature filter will speed things up greatly though, but not necessary if both filters run simultaneously

Alright thanks. Myabe I'll just add some floss form the cycled tank then.

I received my Eheim Pro II 2028 a couple of days ago. Due to the setup of my tank and room available, I found I could not run two external filters at the same time (as I had intended) so I took all of the media from the old Eheim 2213 and added it to the new filter along with some new media. The water parameters haven't altered, so fingers crossed! :)
