i havnt posted in a while! haha (mainly because ive had no other problems since, was it green algae or something? :) ) but im thinking if changing my filter in my 60l. Im thinking of swapping my stingray 15 for a fluval U2, but my question is... how will i seed it with my media? or do i leave both filters together? im sure the U2 has like cartridges and nowhere to place the elite stingrays sponges? please help.

U2 filter cas cartridges for carbon and media together as well as a central cartridge for ceramic media.

What I would do is take out the carbon from the U2 (you don't need it until you need to remove meds after any treatments)
Cut your stingray filter sponge media to fit together with the U2 sponge media, and then add whatever ceramic media you have to the central cartridge.

Basically, move ALL your filter media to the new one if you just have the one tank and not just seeding another new tank.

so take out the two side pads, cut my stingrays sponges into thin strips or something? and place them together, back into the sides of the filter, then take my media from the kidney shaped things from the stingray and pour it within the u2's??

Am not familiar with stingray filters but quickly googled images, got the idea what you mean.

Yes, cut sponge media from stingray to size, use all of it, and wedge it with the new U2 sponge media in both side cartridges.

In central cartridge of U2, you should be able to open it and put in all the ceramic media from your stingray kidney cartridge to the new U2 one.

okay thanks a lot! :)

what shape/size would you reccomend? dont want to screw it up lol :)

What, you mean the sponge media?

Does not matter a jot, whatever you think best, just as long as you put all of it equally between the two cartridges with the new U2 sponge.
