Hi all, just got a eheim filter to replace big ugly juwel one, i am using both untill new one established, the problem is its only got one sponge(white) juwel has the green, blue one and a box of cyrax, when established i am going to just put cyrax in the corner out of sight, will the white sponge do the job of both green and blue.

You'd be better off moving all the media into the Eheim and getting rid of the internal now.

Running two filters in tandem is not the best way to encourage bacterial growth in the new filter.

Thanks for the reply, The eheim is internal as well, smaller by design so a little amendments would need to be made, btw tank is only 69L

Swapping media is still the best way to go about changing filters.

Cut the media up to fit, if needs be.

The Juwel sponges are supposed to work as chemical filtration, but any sponge will make an equally good home for bacteria.
