Hi all,

I have just purchased a Tetratec EX1200 for my 275 litre planted tank, my question is can I transfer the biological media from the Fluval 205 currently running on this tank so as not to crash the cycling or is it best to run both in tandem for a while until bacteria is established in new filter?

Thanks

i think either or will work, when i have upgraded filter i have run then side by side for about 4 weeks, however when i have had filter failures i have just swapped over the media from old to new, both worked for me, take ya pick.

i sugest that you run them both for 2 weeks and then remove the 205

the tetratec is a brilliant filter - good choice!

Ok, will run the two in tandem for a few weeks. Thanks for the advice - forum feedback top notch as usual

I didnt.

I took the charcoal bag out of the TetraTec and then put the foam pads from my old filter in their place and started her up.
