New Filter (bacteria)

Ok so i got a new filter which has 3 layers a sponge carbon pack and then ceramic rings at the top. What I did was took out the carbon pack which was in between the other 2 and replaced it with my sponge with my sleeve with media in it from my cycled tank. So my question is how long do you guys think it will take for the bacteria to spred so that I can put the carbon pack back into the filter?

that is why i took it out it was usless so replaced it with my old tank media.

Oh wait, there will be fish in this tank, right? If not, the filter media may no cloan because there is nothing for them to eat.

Ya I have my fish from the tank that was cycled and put the whole cycled filter cartridge in the new filter.

you really dont need the carbon uless you are wanting to take meds out of the water.

Carbon is nice for newer tank. Gets rid of some of the smells.
