Excited to be placing an order for 3 eels within the next week.
Going to be getting 2 unicolor babies and 1 larger dayi.

Unfortunately our adult unicolor (Venom) passed recently and we are so excited to see them in stock so soon. We thought it would be never with the tariffs, thankfully we're wrong.

Also looking to get a fire eel in the future.

Have plans to build a large plywood tank in our basement this summer, it will become home for my crassipinnis, the larger eel/s and possibly my sailfin pleco. I would move the royal plecos, but the crappies (crassipinnis) are algae wafer HOGS. So I would be worried about the royals getting enough food.

BTW I currently have 2 Borneo eels, 1 starlight eel, 1 tire track, 3 mastacembelus and a partridge in a pear tree, lol.

So I did it, I placed the order and was surprised to see they also had p.myersi (giant kuhli loach) and p.anguillaris (silver kuhli loach) in stock, so I added seven of each. They also had banjo cats at an excellent price so I added two more for current collection of five. They don't start shipping until after the 6th so I place the delivery date for the 8th which will be a warm day here in Illinois. I also am having them delivered to my sister's workplace so that they're not sitting outside on a cold concrete until someone can get home, which won't be until after 6:00 pm for me. I would love to have it shipped by me, but I'm not sure how they are with having live fish delivered in a large box, and I don't want to push it since it's a relatively new job.

The unicolor eels are literally babies at 5-7"(grow to 24+"), due to their size I got 2. The dayi is large at 8-10" (grows to 18") and it's a close cousin to tire track eels.

Sounds like you’ve ordered a gold mine of fish! I’m intrigued by the giant khulis I didn’t know they had bigger brothers, I wonder if they have double the energetic personality

I had them years ago when I had golden dojo loaches in a 75 with a lushly planted tank courtesy of a CO2 system and dry fertilizer. They were a lot more active then their smaller stripey cousins. They (as well as the 🦓 cousins) have been hard to find online and in LFS, and keep alive. The black kuhli loaches seem to be hardier and easier to find. To be honest, they are a lot more active than their smaller 🦓 cousins. Although like cory, different pangio species will happily group together and love big colonies making the whole group a lot more active... definitely a more the merrier loach, lol.

Yay, got my shipping confirmation. I was going to have the fish shipped to my sister's office however she has been sick all week so I was able to change the shipping to where I work. This is a relatively new job so I think I'm pushing the limit a little bit, we'll see how big the box is once it gets delivered tomorrow around 10:30. I am scheduled to work till 6:00 so maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to leave a little earlier than that.

So all but 1 of my fish came in last Thursday. They missed my second unicolor eel which they are shipping for free with a delivery for today. Hopefully it will come in okay.

My eels and kuhli loaches are doing well, assuming the banjo cats are as well, anyone keeping them knows how often they appear once they have tucked in - lol.

Don't forget pics! I'm a big eel fan myself although I don't keep them anymore. I'm surprised you found silver kuhlis, I've been looking for those for ages.

Aqua Imports, they are in Boulder, Co. Have ordered through them many times with 100% live on arrival and customer service is fantastic. Highly recommend. They should still have them in stock.

Omg @anewbie had just mentioned them in another thread I've got going....I guess I'll have to dig out my nutjob-retardant suit and make the drive out there.

Now UPS is another animal. Guy walks in with the package, rotating It 360 in his hands as he carries it to the counter...I said "Hey! Don't do that, there's live fish in the box!"
He looked at me, then the box that has perishable in caps on 4 sides and live fish on the top with double arrows pointing up on the 4 sides, and shrugs before he walks out.

Delivery ok, but lack of attention to detail a big F.

Fortunately the eel is active and it's a short day for me so he should be home and in the 60 gallon by 5pm. Those are his/her shipping stress colors.

Here are some photos of our eels.

The big one is Nebula the starlight eel. I would like to get another whenever they are in stock. The spotted one is the new Dayi aka the leopard eel, the smaller one is a maculatus and there should be another but the 125 hides her/him well.
The other big mug is our new tire track eel. We went to a local fish store in Wisconsin and someone had dropped it off full size 6 years old and it eats pellets. She's absolutely gorgeous and it took her all of 2 days to start begging for food from us. When she sees us she comes forward and it's a fight to get her food before the bumblebee Oscars try to eat it.
Last are our two Borneo eels, Kregory and Chunky.

And this is my sister's cute cartoon of Nebula. Looks just like her, lol.

Love it, ace post I love eels
Whats the first pic in todays post a large spotted one, its really nice

Do you ever get any aggression between themselves? I recall having a 20" ish fire eel and I added a larger tyre track eel to the tank but the fire eel displayed some of the worst aggression I have ever seen between fish and targeted the tyre track in such an evil way

Thank you, I love big eels as well, like chips - you can never have just one, lol
First eel is my starlight eel, Mastacembelus alboguttatus. Love her, she is very personable and gentle. Had a unicolor similar in size in the tank and they would show no aggression, actually swimming in unison around the tank in what looked like playing. Many eels are social, a lot of the smaller spiny eels should really be kept in groups. I have had five Borneo eels at one point and they would snuggle with each other and laying as a group and the tank. I am down to two right now and they still prefer to be next to each other within the tank, but they are in the 60 gallon right now. I know fire eels are not social they are territorial so that would explain the hostility between the fire eel and any other eel in the tank. Not sure about tire track eels, is mine is sitting in the 120 without any other eels in the tank.

cheers for that I will keep my eye out for a starlight eel. I paid for a yellow looking unicolor the other week but before they shipped it it had jumped out the tank and disappeared
