Sorry I cant help you out with them. But I can tell you they are cute. The one on the right is very pretty..

They are lovely.

However, the LFS advice is nonsense IMO!!! |The "feelers" should be the same in male and females - they are modified fins. Probably the one without has had them nipped at by another fish in the dealers tanks /in transit/ etc. They can grow back though - you might want to watch the water quality incase he gets a skin infection until they start looking better.

Female dwarves are typically a pale colour, silvery-pinky-cream, with either very faint or no real markings. They are totally different in colouration from males, and some people have probs finding any for sale as they are so much plainer than the males some LFS don't stock them as they don't sell that well.

I think what you have are two male dwarves, one regular coloured and the bottom one a neon blue dwarf - is difficult in a photo, but I assume the not-orange parts of the second fish are a shiny metallic blue?

Very nice fishies though!!

They look like 2 males to me. :) I agree with Annka5, what your fish store told you is wrong. Females and males have exactly the same kind of "feelers".

They have some pretty coloring on them too! Nice fishies.

i also agree. both males. All females I've seen are really pale. The one on the right looks like a blue neon version.

Hi Notsofab :)

My guess is that you have two males there since they both have similar fins. But looking at the colors, they look like the original, natural type dwarf gourami and with them, the female does have more color than some of the designer colors.

If you could get pictures of them, looking down at them from the top of the water, it would be helpful too because their body contours are also an indication of gender. :D

I'll move your thread to the gourami forum where the gourami folks are more apt to see them.
