I am soaking my driftwood, it's been soaking for 3 days. I washed it well before hand. It seems to have a clear coat of slime on it? Is it safe to add to my tank?

This is totally normal, it happens to me all the time. The slime is caused by mucus from the water, building up on the wood.

It should wash off with hot water. :)

Great thanks guys :)

No problem. If you want to remove it completely, then you can add shrimps. They'll eat biofilm.

I have otos and snails. They should work right? I do plan to add some shrimp eventually tho :)

Pleco's love that. Its common with wood that isn't 100% dead and the live part dies faster underwater. Sometimes you have to be careful..at times wood or twigs and branches not cured will give off a sour smell to the aquarium water.
NEVER use bark. If anything is going to poison fish? Its bark. I remember using Acacia baileyana wood in a 20 gallon or so. The next morning every fish was dead and the water was red. Neons were in there..so the water was more than red tea colored to them.. it had something toxic.
