C-fish, you are ahead of the skill level I had when I decided to take up drawing. Like big mick, I kept at it and tried other media. You should too, as you have the native skill foundation to build on. I started with pencil and colored pencils, too. Unlike big mick, I don't think I can make a living from it.
Below is a Christmas card I did for my squadron a long while back, and up until then I hadn't really given pen-and-ink a thought for drawing until then (I learned later that it's called pen-and-ink because other thin liquids, such as dyes, can be used in place of ink). I later purchased some Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph reservoir pens...I guess the lesson here is that good equipment expands your horizons.
Airbrush is great, too. I tried that next, and found that pen and air can be combined to great effect. Of course, when you can't find the color you want, you have to mix...so I ended up falling into using acrylic paints as well, thinned for the airbrush and at various thicknesses for regular brushing.
In short, it seems one media ties to another, and you end up dabbling in lots of them. My son is getting to be a bit of the little artist, starting w/ pencil and colored pencils and pastels, as I did. His little sisters are getting to like drawing, too. It's big fun to watch, since I don't have the time these days to work on it the way I once did.
Have fun with it!
