I recently bought a 4" Ocean Green discus. This guy was bought from another LFS that I usualy dont buy from. But his new LFS has really cheap fish because they have a wide variety of selections. Anyways this new discus only eats worms and when he's not eating he hides in the corner with semi clamped fins. But when I pop in the worms he comes alive with brilliant colors and flared fins. I am trying to train him to eat Colorbit, but he is not biting. I have never had this problem with my other discus when I got them.

Any suggestions? Im pretty sure he's healthy... just being picky.

Hi KageBunshin, I have had luck getting some fish off of live food. I normally fatten them up for a couple of weeks. Then I starve them for a few days and introduce the food I want them to eat. If this does not work I feed them their preferred food for a day then starve them for another week. By this time they will usually take to the food I feed them. If not you can stretch the starvation to 2 weeks. Fish can be starved for this long without any health problems. As long as they are not fry and are in healthy condition. If you have tankmates that will accept the food you are training with it would help. Fish learn to identify other foods when they see other fish eating it.
