i have purchased a pair of conivcts about a month ago there im almost positve they are male and female. the female dug a hole on one side of the tank and they have been doing all the signs of breeding, but it has been 3 days and no eggs. any idea on how long it will take before they lay the eggs?

How longs a peice of string :shout:
could be juvi practicing...have to see when the breeding tubes appear
a good water change helps alot of fish to stimulate breeding

im really new to breeding sorry, what are the breeding tubes?

they are a little light colored tube that comes out near the anal fin underneath the fish. Usually you can only see them when the fish are preparing to spawn.

i havent seen any type of tube, so maybe they are just practicing?????? maybe? any sugestions at all? they have been laying in the whole she dug for about 10 minutes then he will chase her around and then go back to the whole.

I doubt they're "practising", they'll either do it or not. My experience with cons is that they're always digging and (pretty much) always showing breeding behaviour, whether they're about to breed or not.

It does sound like courting and as nelly suggested, a water change may help. I think I read somewhere that raising the temp to 27c can get 'em going.

my pair of calico cons have been doing the courtship routine for about a week now but they are only about 2 inches long and its early days and at least they are not beating the hell out of each other.
