New cons

I got me some free cons today from the LFS cuz there closing.
Hopefully they will be okay with a 8" dempsey

watch them when they are mating. doesn't matter how big the fish is, they are very protective of their fry. also dempseys love the free live food.

Im not worried about the dempseys getting hurt. they are huge i think if the cons make em made he will kill em. I made alot fo caves tho so i guess ill see wt happens

Still, it might be rough. I have a Pair of Cons in one of my tanks right now which has quite a bit of other American Cichlids. They have spawned and have set 50% of the tank as there terrirory. No other fish dares to go by them. Except for my Blood Parrots which spawned right by there nest. A Con will beat up a fish as big as an Oscar. A Jack Dempsey's size and aggressivness is no match for small, breeding cons!! IMO there's not a more aggressive fish than a Breeding Convict. For now (The eggs haven't hatched) my Cons aren't too bad, but thats because there's a lot of fish in the tank to divide the con's aggressive behavior between them. If I were only to have 2 or 3 or 5 fish in there with them I think the Cons would harm them quite a bit because they would put all their 'beeting up' on those few fish.
