The yellow ones with the darker horizontal stripes look like melanochromis auratus, and the blue (purple) with yellow fins are pseudotropheus acei.

P.acei
is a great fish, they spend most of their times in the upper levels of the tank, and get along with most species. M.auratus are extremely aggressive, so you'll want to keep a close eye on them.

I dont believe i saw any Melanochromis Auratus in the pictures or description, I may be mistaken. Just a quick heads up. I have dealt with melanochromis auratus before, they are VERY aggressive more so when they mature and more so in males then any other fish ive had expierience with. My suggestion to you if this is the case is to get rid of the fish before the mature. The males will turn a more darker, almost negative color to what they are now.

Actually I think the blue ones with the yellow fins are greshakei. Because my greshakei looks like that as well, and I know mine is a greshakei.
The two in the middle with quite a lot of babies seem to be a Tanganyian Lake species to me either Dickfeldi cichlid or Marlieri cichlid. But I am also thinking Bumblebee cichlid.
The pair you might have to get rid of looks like an American cichlid. What species I have no idea.
And I don't know much about bala sharks, but are their water conditions similiar to the cichlids? I'm a bit worried about them, but I could be wrong.

How big is the tank?

"silver sharks" bala sharks.. have gone! now in my mums tank! they ware ok but wanted 100% cichlids so gone
same with the angle fish now also gone!! same with the tetra???

and yes the "pair" are American cichlids!(http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=68)

just found out i new ones i got are ment to be ...

6 yellow labs

4 blue alfa white tops

4 blue alfas

4 hongi (lovely colours)

20 + ob peacock babys half male half female showing colours

cichlids are well nice to look at and keep but hard to understand there names lol

the tank is 240l!

Well, perhaps I'm looking at the wrong pics for id's because the two fish circled in this pic are melanochromis auratus
pic1.jpg

And the one circled in blue looks like metriaclima greshaki and the once circled in black is pseudotropheus acei.

You had angel's, and bala's, and tetra's with malawi cichlid's? ** Freak's out** How did they get along, and how long did you leave the poor angle's, bala's, and tetra;s with them? That is like feeding them to pirahnna! Also, no bala's and african cichlid's arent a good idea together.

Was about a week!! the angle fish bossed about the cichlids! kept going pecking them! cichlids left them alone!

dthoffsett thanks for that! i will get you some better pics and see wot you think!

The sort of brownish one in the middle picture with the orange eyes and a little hump on its forehead looks very much like the South American Hypselecara temporalis to me, otherwise known as a chocolate cichlid. That's unless the colours aren't the same in real life as in the picture. They get very big but are quite placid unless breeding. Will eat most fish smaller than them though (unless scared off), have large mouths. Mine lived around ten years.

I would strongly advise against keeping these cichlids with aggressive Africans. They also have quite different water requirements - SA cichlids like soft water with low pH, while Africans are normally kept in high pH. It's very important when choosing fish to think about where they come from as well as the character of that type of fish so that tank mates are compatible and the environment agrees with them.

The south american cichlid in the picture underneath the convict is a nicaraguense, you can see mine in my avator

Ok, thought it looked like temporalis, but the mouth is smaller. Will concede the point though I didn't think the pic typical of nicaraguense. Haven't kept them personally though.

Any chance of a couple of more pics of those?
