New cichlid tank!

Hey, i converted my tank to a tanganyikan one. I have one juli and a brichardi, the tank is 30 gallons. I was wondering if these 2 are ok together and what else i could add, i do like calvus and leleupi would they work?
Also do u guys feed ur julis sinking food because he wont come up 2 get it!

You can keep all of those together as long as you're keeping singles, much of the aggression of these guys is only present with a mate involved. Still have to be careful though. I'd try to find a mid sized calvus, they grow very, very slow.

I use small sinking pellets and frozen brine shrimp for these types. Get some food to the bottom at first and he'll be greeting you at the top in no time.

Ok cheers! Yea i knew that they all turn a bit nasty when breeding. So frozen brine shrimp is ok, but no blood worms?

Hi,

Calvuses are really cool fish, I've got one in a 25 G. he's one of my favorites.

Be aware though, most places I have read up on them say
they are not an agressive species.

Mine goes for any fish that come close to its hiding place. The ones that dont turn tale and flee he gets them to try and bite him, a Calvus has scales they can turn out that are sharp and will fray other fishes mouths if they bite. He knows this and swims side on to them as if to goad them.

My BN Plec is pretty tough, but even he turns tale if the Calvus is swimming full pelt at him. I have video footage, if anyone wants me to mail it !!

When I first put him in the tank you could see he was touch. The BN kept wacking him with his tale but he wouldnt budge.

He went into hiding for several days and my RTBshark (dont moan)wound him up like anything.
But once he got established and found a pot........ He was boss of the tank.

O cool! There is a bichir in there but only temporally, i think! lol My brichardi is the best but the juli seems fairly aggressive. So i was wondering if i had a girly brichardi and its gona get bullied by every fish!
I put in lance fish for the bichir is that a problem the cichlids do peck at it?
