New Cichlid Tank

My lfs is selling what it calls rainbow rock. Its sort of whiteish yellow and is the most decorative rock I have seen around. I have just got a 40g tank and plan to keep malawi cichlids in. The tank is cycled and its awaiting rocks, plants and fish now. Anyways is this stuff a good rock to put in with cichlids. I figured it was as it is quite soft and I can carve many a hiding place out of it
