Bungy
Fish Crazy
I have just completed a successful "fishless cycle" in what Im hoping to become an African Cichlid tank. My stats are now on zero throughout and my PH is a stable 7.6
My tank is 120L, has several broken plant-pots as caves in addition to a number of "Slate" hidey-holes and some large pebbles. I included plant fertaliser pellets over which I have a mixture of yellow sand, Black sand and medium sized gravel. I have 3 large leafed plants and a piece of bogwood for good measure. The whole setup is filtered by a Fluval 404.
My main question now is: What Cichlid species do I stock with and how many - Id love these fish to bread however I must learn to walk before running and thus I guess the more hardy and easier to keep species would be a more prudent approach.
Having read much on the subject im leaning more towards Malawi - Mbuna. More so because the S.American species appear to be larger and thus I may be expected to pay considerably more to support the tank. There also seems to be more Malawi species available.
Christmas is coming and im expecting a wadge of LFS Vouchers this year from family etc - I therefore intend in the new year to stock my Cichlid tank.
Any suggestions and pointers from other Cichlid keepers as to stocking would be very very much appreciated at this stage.
Thank you.
Pete
