since my choc gourami died my tank looks empty, any advice on a centerpiece fish for a 30 gal?

A pair of Dwarf Cichlids or a Trio of Gouramis (something like Dwarf or Honey)

after i posted that i thought to myself, your an idiot, rams are dwarfs.i'd really like to stay away from cichlids as i have 2 different types of live bearers.

Don't blame you, and dwarf cichlids aren't really big enough imo to be considered centrepiece fish for a 30G - maybe a 15-20G, but they stay too small.

I'd say go with the gourami's, toyed with the idea of dwarves and honey's for ages and finally took the plunge and got a yellow honey gourami the other day - gorgeous, colourful fish.

their is one thing i forgot to mention,i have a center piece "fish".he is a 12 year old fire belly newt.so whenever i want a new fish i have to make sure it is a fish that won't harm him.

how about pearl gourami's? they are very freindly plus i think they are very cool looking.

i have 2 dwarf gouramis' in my 60 gal,and the only gourami i've actually found attractive is a chocolate one and i'm not ready to try one of them again for a while.

i looked them up in the fish index and couldn't find them.how big do they get?

i looked up red torpedo barb and it is a very nice looking fish.i don't think i could add 4 to 6 of them in a 30 gal because of how large they get.i'm going to my lfs in a bit to drop off some baby swordtails and i'll see if they have some just to see what they look like in person.
