Got a new camera for Christmas, so have been having a play. Here are a couple of pics of Boris, and his tank which needs some serious pruning, hygrophila has gone a bit crazy lately!!

Nice tank. I think it looks good although it is a little overgrow, although I couldn't find Boris in the last pic. :kewlpics:

Very nice tank for a betta, doesn't look overgrown to me (I LOVE the jungle look).

Nice pics, have fun playing with the new camera :).

Tank looks great. Bet Boris is really happy in there. I just started getting into bettas myself. Just got a pair of pictas.

Thanks for all the comments, I've had a little tiny prune today, so I can now actually see Boris and the Cories!

Very nice tank, wish I could get plants to live more than 5 minutes :(

Boris is really nice, but i was just wondering what is up with his scales on pic 2? :S

Oh yeah, had another look, not sure what that is, will check him when I get home tonight, hadn't noticed it before, it's almost like his scales are growing the other way!

Couple of hints for tank photography. Set your camera to macro, flash off, and tank lights on. Get as close to the glass as possible to minimise reflections and wait for the fish.

Other than that nice pics, and nice shot of your betta.

Thanks for the hints, will give it a go, it's such a nightmare, you just get all lined up then they zoom off!!!

I often find I have to wait with the camera still focussed on where the fish is near and then almost wait for the fish to come into shot. At least with a more inquisitive fish like a betta they might come over and see what you're doing. But skittish fish and schools of tetras or rasbs are a nightmare.

awesome tank, i cant get plants to stay alive though

The only plants I've been able to keep alive are the hygrophilia, which grows like a weed as you can see from the picture and a small version of the amazon sword, which for the life of me I can't remember its name!! I've tried cryptocorynes and vallis and they've both just shrivelled up and died on me.

Get hygrophilia, I bet you'll be ok with that!
